SIBELIUS-FESTIVAALI 2025–2027

”Jean Sibeliuksen tuotannon omintakeisuus voi estää meitä havaitsemasta hänen yhteyksiään muihin säveltäjiin ja musiikillisiin tyylisuuntiin. Tiedämme hänen nuorena ihailleen Pjotr Tšaikovskia, Franz Lisztiä ja Richard Wagneria ja olleen hyvin perillä 1900-luvun alun tyylillisistä myllerryksistä. Hänen ystäväpiiriinsä kuului joukko aikakauden merkittävimpiä kansainvälisiä muusikoita. Sibeliuksen loppukauden ajattomuus ja modernit ratkaisut inspiroivat tulevaisuuden säveltäjiä. Haluamme Sibelius-festivaalin puitteissa näyttää mitä nuo yhteydet käytännössä tarkoittavat.

Yksi festivaali ei siihen riitä, niitä tarvitaan kolme.

Olen kokenut Sibelius-festivaalin suunnittelun erityiseksi kunniatehtäväksi ja halunnut pitää ohjelmiston painopisteen säveltäjämestarin tuotannossa. Muiden säveltäjien teokset on valittu edellä mainittujen periaatteiden mukaan. Olen kiitollinen luottamuksesta ja toivon maagisia hetkiä sibeliaanisten kohtaamisten parissa.”
